Scoring volunteer position available

We are on the lookout for someone to add to our pool of scorers. Both of our current scorers are staying on, so you will get full training and support, we just want to ensure we have enough scorers to allow for breaks and if they aren’t available for any competitions in the future, we have a backup. We are looking to start an additional scorer starting at North Islands/South Islands (May/June) this year and are hoping they would continue to Nationals and beyond.

As a scorer, you will get your transport and accommodation funded for ASNZ competitions and get a pool side view of the competition. You also gain a greater understanding of this sport we all love. The scoring role does not have a weekly commitment, the busy times are May/June for North Islands and South Islands and September/October for Nationals. 

Scorers have a very high degree of responsibility and are usually very busy on competition days. It is vital that you are available the whole day and are comfortable with a bit of pressure. You would need to dedicate your day (or weekend) to scoring and for example, would not be able to be a team manager at the same time.

We are looking for someone that is great with numbers, has an eye for detail, that special knack for knowing if something just doesn’t look right, and the confidence to query it. The scorer role requires someone that can stay focused for long periods and is calm in stressful situations. Confidence with computers and software is also required but because training is provided you don’t need to be an IT specialist.
